Day 5 - The first final round belongs to Poland.

Desenzano del Garda, 8 June 2024 - The fight continues in Desenzano between the Organizing Committee of the 2024 Desenzano FISU World University Sailing Championship and the high pressure system which, for a few days now, has been limiting the flow of navigable air within the gulf .

Even today the program of the event, organized by Fraglia Vela Desenzano in collaboration with FISU, was slowed down and after having completed, early in the morning, the missing regatta for the B fleet, won by the Dutch team, to get even with the A steps were taken to separate the Gold and Silver teams.

A long wait followed, which ended towards the middle of the afternoon when the Race Committee, taking advantage of an overall ‘honest’ Under, completed the first race of the final series won by Poland, still fifth in the general ranking, ahead of Italy 2 of Alfonso Palumbo, currently sixth, and France of Ange Delerce, who has tied Alec Coleman’s Canada 2 crew to the overall lead. In fourth place in the Gold Fleet, behind Singapore, is Alessandro Archetti’s Italy 1, fourth today in the only final race held.

The 2024 Desenzano FISU World University Sailing Championship will end tomorrow with the Gold Fleet competing in a maximum of three races. The final act of the event will be the awards ceremony, scheduled for around 5.30pm in Piazza Cappelletti in the presence of important authorities.
